Basilisk is a game by Kira.
In fiction, it presents itself as the SNES emulator SNESy+ 0.2.4. It comes packed with the Basilisk ROM.
Intro
Once the ROM is loaded, the game presents you with its title screen. Upon pressing start, the intro sequence starts, with the following text scrolling on the screen.

MYCENAE
1437 A.D.
Untold hardship befalls the
kingdom, a time of famine.
The king struggles to provide
for his people and allocate
food to the peasants.
You, a simple knight are
dispatched to hear out the
people. But it may be too
late when you arrive at town,
it was not what you expected.
The town is deserted, the
buildings are gone and
there's a shrill howl
in the air.

When done, you are dropped at State 0.
State 0
State 0 spawns you in a forest.
State 1
State 2
State 3
State 4
State 6
Unlike the other save states, State 6 is just a demo. The player is shown walking through forest and sometimes changing directions. When they come across an NPC, they kill them in one hit.
It's worth noting that at times, the player encounters one of the hooded NPCs seen in other states, which they ignore.
State 7
State 7 has the player start in a stone corridor, with a hooded figure and a white fog on the right and rocks on the left.
It is possible to squeeze past the rocks on the left through the left side, leading to what looks like an error sprite from Basilisk 2000 with the following lines:
- Crossing this space won't get you anywhere.
- The vein that connects the two games.
- The devil is in the details.
- Oh but the devil is in everything.
The hooded NPC on the right has the following lines:
- Could ya believe it!
- It seems nowhere is safe, not even a castle.
- To think that the basilisk made it all the way here.
Beyond the hooded figure is a white fog, which when entered, moves the player in an empty space, with a different encounter depending on whether or not the player has obtained the sword from State 3. If the player has obtained it, they will encounter a knight, leading to the ending screen. If they haven't, they will encounter the shaking eye of the Basilisk, leading to a game over.
